Philosophical Debate and Seminar Club

New club for undergraduates interested in open philosophical debate.

The “Philosophical Debate and Seminar Club” is a new club created by undergraduate students for UMD students with an interest in philosophy! The mission is to provide a safe and conducive space for students to get together and explore different topics through discussion and debate. The club met for the first time on November 5th, to go over the timeline, future events, topics, and structure. This club will vote on a topic and area of philosophy every 2-3 months. In addition to debates, it to hold seminars and lectures to discuss prominent philosophers/arguments in the topic area. The debate will follow a rough Lincoln Douglas format, with room for adjustments as needed. Meetings are planned to be every Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
