UMD at Eastern APA

January 07, 2025 Philosophy

Passion, morality, ability, possibility and the special sciences.

January 8-11, the 2025 Eastern Division Meeting of the American Philosophical Association is in New York City, with contributions from Harjit Bhogal, Lizzie Schechter, Paolo Santorio, Fabrizio Cariani and Jeremiah Tillman

Harjit has a talk on “The Moral Special Sciences” in a symposium on Parallels Between Metaethics and Philosophy of Science. Lizzie and Paolo are commentators for two invited symposia, on Experience and Perspective and Counterfactuals and Possibility, respectively. Fabrizio chairs a symposium on The Semantics of Ability. And Jeremiah presents a poster on "Fits of passion." They all get to enjoy Midtown in freezing temperatures and a crust of grimy snow, the way Manhattan is meant to be.
