Welcome Avia Pasternak

Associate Professor Avia Pasternak is joining us from the University of Toronto. She specializes in social and political philosophy, including the ethics of protest. Among her many publications is the book Responsible Citizens, Irresponsible States: Should Citizens Pay for Their State’s Wrongdoings? (Oxford University Press, 2021)

Retirement 

• Allen Stairs will become Emeritus Professor of Philosophy on July 1 after having been a member of the department since 1979.

Graduate Student News

• Boning Yu will present Communication and Biased Evidence at LOFT15 (15th Conference on Logic and the Foundations of Game and Decision Theory) at University of Bayreuth, Germany
• Cody Gomez will be taking up a post-doctoral fellowship at Colorado College as a Riley Scholar-in-Residence for the upcoming academic year.
• Jeremiah Tillman presented “Grief Rekindles” at the American Philosophical Association (Central Division) in New Orleans, LA.
