The Department of Philosophy is hosting a colloquium entitled "Respect and its moral significance" on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. The key speaker will be Rüdiger Bittner.

Dr. Rüdiger Bittner is in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bielefeld. In his lecture he will evaluate respect as currently being recommended, both for philosophical and for political reasons, as a basic and general attitude to take towards human beings. The discussion will also address whether this recommendation is philosophically well supported, practically viable and politically fruitful.
