I was born in Calgary, Alberta. I attended the Univerisity of British Columbia in Vancouver, where I completed the Philosophy Honors Undergraduate Program and the M.A. in Philosophy. I began the Ph.D. program in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Maryland in 2012.
